The Tent is Closer Than Its Ever Been
If you attend FBC, you know that we've been meeting outdoors since the summer of 2020 (due to Covid). While there have been many unexpected blessings of meeting in a football stadium (e.g., free tanning), we are all eager to have cover again.
In the Lord's kindness, a client of an insurance agent in our church heard of our plight and offered a preowned Sprung tent to us that was currently in storage in the desert. Since that call, we've reworked our plans to install the tent early in construction, and then meet there for weekly worship as the rest of the campus is being built around us. (The city council and planning department had sympathy for our plight and thankfully approved this change to our plans.)
Two weeks ago, I got a call from the tent donor, letting me know that the yard where our tent had awaited us was being sold and would need to be moved quickly, as escrow was short. In God's grace, FBC has a truck driver who graciously volunteered his time over a couple days to see it all moved to our valley. We'd heard that the material would fit onto one or two semi trucks. The actual number was FOUR! Thankfully, Bruce Calhoun and David Tinahui pitched in to help and all the tent parts, HVAC units, etc now sit in an undisclosed location a few miles from our building site, awaiting the pad to be ready for installation.
Lord willing, the tent will be installed and ready for our usage this fall!
